Lessons from Geese

Lessons from Geese
Fact 1 As each goose flaps its wings it creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.
Lesson 1 People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

Fact 2 When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front of it.
Lesson 2 If we have as much common sense as a goose, we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.

Fact 3 When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into the formation and another goose flies to the point position.
Lesson 3 It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each others' skills, capabilities, and unique arrangements of gifts, talents, or resources.

Fact 4 Geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
Lesson 4 We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement, the production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart and core of others) is the quality of honking we seek.

Fact 5 When a goose gets sick, wounded, or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.
Lesson 5 If we have as much sense as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as well as when we are strong.

I am flat week on week to give Mary a boost

"Progress lies not in enhancing what is, but in advancing toward what will be."

I read once "Youth is wasted on the young" and that seemed to ring true. When we are young, the possibilities and potential we hold at a younger age seems somehow offset by the insecurities, inexperience and the lack of understanding that aside from your spirit, nothing is infinite. But your spirit exists from all eternity and shall exist until the end of time, for your being has no end.

"Your living is determined not so much by what life
brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what
happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens. Advance, and never halt, for advancing is perfection. Advance and do not fear the thorns or the sharp stones on life's path, for they draw only corrupt blood."

As we grow older and realize the consequences of choices we have made after we leave the home of our parents and can choose freely, it may take another lifetime to learn that "much of your pain is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self"

Perplexity is the beginning of knowledge.
Why are my knees starting to hurt?
Why do my feet throb just when I am standing still? What was it like yesterday to move with the grace of the body we were given and be completely at ease with ourselves?

The eye of a human being is a microscope, which makes
the world seem bigger than it really is.
And so, we need to bring things back into perspective. To reconcile ourselves with the reality of our lives and point towards the potential and possibilities we have as long as we are breathing. And to love ourselves. Love and doubt have never been on speaking terms. And Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.

All our words are but crumbs that fall down from the
feast of the mind.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;
the most massive characters are seared with scars.

Pain and foolishness lead to great bliss and complete
knowledge, for Eternal Wisdom created nothing under the sun in vain.

And forget not that the earth delights to feel your
bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

Have a great day!

New Siam Catering service has started

http://www.siamthaicuisinetokyo.com

We started the Siam Thai Catering business with Ross and Chakkri. We have our first event in August which is for the reception of the Living Dreams group which we were able to get $100,000 donated to for the Design Art Academy. Artists and musicians all over Japan volunteer their time to teach children of the orphanage network we work with about art for the week. The buffet at the closing ceremony will be provided by Siam.

Calling all cars

Mary, I just called the switchboard at the Del Norte Country Police department to send a APB over the wire to find Joe to confirm your weigh in number. Sorry! I had her mention the number too, so all the police, sheriff and hillbillies in a 200 mile radius with a Ham Radio know your number now.

Good luck on your bacon and eggs with cheese....

Weight Watchers vs. Atkins

Mary Sullivan and Michael P are having a contest on who loses weight faster. Michael, who will of course, because he is on Weight Watchers as is the rest of the world OR Mary....Dr.Atkins died Mary...of a heart attack....from following his own program!

So, let the race begin. I am not ashamed that I am down to 256 and have lost 8lbs so far this year....and Mary...how much are you weighing now????

Long Lost photo

I was updating ancestry.com when I came across someone who had information about Grandma Perry's parents. The person who posted is Tracey, granddaughter of Grandma's sister Alice (blonde to her left in the photo). Her sister Betty is on her right. I have never seen this photo before.
